Dolly-Parton
Dolly Parton was born on the 19th of January 1946 located in Locust Ridge Tenn. She was raised with 12 other children. Her imaginative mind enabled her to escape the grim realities of life. She was writing songs before she learned to read or write. She bought her first guitar at the age of 8 and began her singing career on the Knoxville Tenn radio station at the age of 11. In the same year, she recorded her first album on Gold Band Records a tiny independent label. As a student in high school, she garnered a name in the local music scene but was always dreaming of a larger stage. When she graduated from high school in 1964, she immediately relocated to Nashville. Dumb Blonde was her first single to reach the top of the charts on Monument Records. Porter Wagoner had been looking for a female performer to be a part of his syndicated show until this point. Parton was brought on in the year she signed with RCA Records by 1968, and became a member of the Grand Ole Opry. In 1974, she quit the show because of the success of her individual songs, such as Joshua Coats of Many Colors or Jolene was surpassing their joint albums.
